“Tim,” she whispered for fear her voice would hurt his ears, “can that really be you? I don’t understand, how could this be?” She held her hand down so he could climb on and she could bring him closer to her ears to hear him.
He stepped aboard and waiting until she’d stopped her hand, level with her breasts. “Your father arranged for a portion of his peasant to be enchanted and placed on this island for you. Someone must have seen us together for he made sure I was counted among them.”
She shook her head, “no, my father wouldn’t hurt anyone. He wouldn’t have taken you from me.” She closed her eyes, a tear slipping down her cheek to fall to a puddle. “He had me checked to see if…if he’d still be able to command a high bride price for me…Tim I’m so sorry. I’ve missed you so much.” She pulls him close, gently rubbing her cheek against him.
He touches her cheek, “You didn’t know. It’s not your fault.” He sighs looking down and away.
“What’s wrong, Tim? Please tell me.” The gentle princess he’d know, full of concern.
“It’s just that the villiagers of Alona’s Isle seem to think it’s my fault we’re all shrunk here. I’ve not been allowed shelter, or work. I’m on my own here.”
The Princess’s body trembled with delight, “then you’ll simply come home with me. I’ll take care of you until we can find a way to reverse the spell. Yes, that’s what I’ll do. I’ll keep you safe in my room.”
She didn’t give him a chance to argue, she simple rose to her feet, with her typical feline grace and carried him to the ferry that would carry them across the lake and back to the normal sized kingdom.
